Stark Bro’s utilizes a number of different techniques within the warehouse to minimize cost and increase throughput based on product size, product velocity, peak order demands and specific carrier requirements of its customers. Our Inventory Control department monitors all processes and provides cycle counts to insure accuracy. Management of the product flow into and out of the warehouse is controlled by our highly efficient ERP system.

Product flow into the warehouse is managed through the receipt of purchase orders and ASN techniques. Product can be moved directly to forward picking bins or put away in assigned or random reserve locations. Product receipt and inspection is controlled by the Receiving Department.

By establishing minimum and maximums on each product Stark Bro’s maximizes its efficiency of material movements. Also the use of velocity slotting of product insures the maximization of replenishment efforts and picking efficiency. While our normal process of picking orders is via cart, we utilize other techniques ie, zone picking, pick and pass, etc. Order verification is managed by scanning bar codes on products to insure proper picking of item and quantity.

Returns Management
Providing customers with an easy and accurate returns process has a great impact on customer satisfaction and repeat business. Likewise, concise tracking and processing of returns has a direct impact on the bottom line. Returns can be tracked through a variety of detailed or summarized reports. Product return codes are also collected and documented as part of the returns process.

Customer returns are managed through the Returns department. Products are inspected and refurbished when necessary and proper credits are entered into its system based on each customer’s business rules. Defective product is returned to vendors on a schedule outlined by its customers. Complete evaluation of product returns is available through a variety of reports which can identify product that is returned excessively and the reason why the return is occurring. Management then can adjust copy or elect to drop a product as a result of the excellent management information provided on product returns.
